(Milledgeville, Ga) — Heading into the final week of the campaign, Georgia's senior U.S. Senator stopped off to make a closing pitch to voters in Baldwin County.

"The entire future of our country comes down to these two senate races," Perdue told the crowd at a local shopping center. "No matter what happened in November, we've got to get the vote out."

Baldwin County Commission Chair Henry Craig, County Solicitor Skye Gess, and Representative Rick Williams were all in attendance.

"As the slogan says, we've got to 'win Georgia to save America," said Rep. Williams. "Please get on the phone, call your friends, call your family, call your neighbor, call you enemy, and tell them to go vote!"

In November, President-elect Joe Biden carried Baldwin County by 237 votes (1.3%), while David Perdue eeked out a win over Jon Ossoff by 90 votes (0.5%).

Senator Perdue touted his work to ensure that the recent round of COVID relief to Americans passed.

In recent days, President Trump has called for stimulus checks of $2,000 to every American instead of $600. "Yes, I want to make sure that our small businesses and people who are out of work get some help," Perdue told WGUR's Jonathan O'Brien, though he did not say outright that he supported an increase. He did announce in a tweet on Tuesday that he does support the President’s push for increased relief checks.

Perdue said that if he wins on January 5th, his first job would be to ensure the Biden administrations' nominees are qualified. "People who will be reasonable Democrats, not this liberal end he's being pushed toward right now," said Perdue.

He believes both sides can find a compromise on issues related to Medicare and Social Security.
